Departure from Dayton, Ohio, for overnight flight via Pittsburgh to London,
England. Meals en route.
Tuesday, June 18, 2002
Early morning arrival in London. Clear customs, exchange money, and board
our motor coach for Portsmouth. Prior to our hotel availability, we will
have guided sightseeing in Portsmouth including Lord Nelson’s flagship HMS
Victory, the historic 1500s Mary Rose, and the World War II D-Day Museum,
with its D-Day embroidery. In the afternoon we will arrive at our hotel in
Winchester. Dinner and overnight in Winchester.
Wednesday, June 19, 2002
The morning is free for a late breakfast, a look in the shopping street, or
just rest to get over jet lag. The afternoon is given to a guided walking
tour of Winchester, the first capital of England, home to Winchester
Cathedral and the legendary King Arthur. Dinner and overnight in Winchester.
Thursday, June 20, 2002
The day is committed to guided sightseeing including a visit to the great
Salisbury Cathedral, with an original copy of the Magna Carta, the mystic
Stonehenge, and the Roman heritage in the city of Bath. In the afternoon we
return to our hotel in Winchester for dinner and overnight.
Friday, June 21, 2002
Today we travel among the Cotswolds, the delightful honey colored limestone
villages famous for the ancient wool trade and so picture perfect and
interesting to browse. There will be time for leisurely sightseeing or
shopping, as you wish. Dinner and overnight in Oxford.
Saturday, June 22, 2002
Today we visit Oxford, England, the old university city, for a guided
walking tour of the historic area. Our guide, an Oxford graduate, hopes to
take us inside one of the more than 30 colleges that compose the University.
There will be free time for independent sightseeing in the afternoon. Dinner
and overnight at our hotel in Oxford.

This morning we transfer to Stratford on Avon for a visit to Shakespeare’s
home, with free time to wander in the town, prior to our late afternoon
coach ride on to York. Dinner and overnight in York.
Monday, June 24, 2002
Our day is devoted to York. A guided walking tour will show us this most
complete English medieval city, with time to spare for independent
sightseeing at the cathedral, the Viking Center, the railway museum, or
shopping in the market. Dinner on your own prior to overnight in York.
Tuesday, June 25, 2002
Morning departure by motor coach for Edinburgh, Scotland. On the way we will
stop for a visit to the most famous of the ruined border abbeys, Melrose
Abbey, and Hadrian’s Wall, the northern border of the Roman Empire. Dinner
and overnight in Edinburgh.
Wednesday, June 26, 2002
A morning guided coach tour will introduce us to the history and culture of
Edinburgh. The afternoon is open for independent activity in this capital of
Scotland. New Town, The Royal Mile and Princess Street will attract our
attention. Shopping for wool products will be a priority for many. Some may
want to play golf. Dinner and overnight in Edinburgh.
Thursday, June 27, 2002
Today our guided coach tour goes to St. Andrews, the home of golf and a
famous university town. In the afternoon we will continue on to Glamis
Castle, home of the British Queen Mother for a tour before returning to
Edinburgh for overnight. Dinner on your own in the city.
Friday, June 28, 2002
The day is committed to our coach transfer from Edinburgh to London, with
appropriate stops and interesting landscapes on the way. Dinner and
overnight in London.
Saturday, June 29, 2002
This morning we have a guided coach tour of London including such major
sites as the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Piccadilly Circus,
Hyde Park Square, Mayfair and Buckingham Palace. In the afternoon we will be
guided to the highlights of the British Museum. Overnight in London, but
dinner on your own so you are free to choose an evening theatre visit.

A free day for all. Many of you have been to London before and will welcome
a completely free day to do your own thing in London or out. We will help
those who wish help, and the city taxis are easy to use. Some may want a day
tour to Windsor or Hampton Court, or to go inside the Tower of London or
ride the new London Eye, or attend a church service at Westminster Abbey.
Dinner on your own and overnight in London.

Early morning departure to London Gatwick Airport for our flight back to
Dayton, Ohio, via Pittsburgh.
The tour pace is leisurely, but each day will offer a variety of culturally
interesting events. We have arranged free time at major sites for
independent activity, as English is our common language. Our hotels and food
are high quality, with locations convenient to our sightseeing interests.
Francis and Maisy Dumont will offer superior assistance. We will have local
guides in each region. Our touring coach will have toilet, hot and cold
drinks, television, and air conditioning. June is a good time to travel in
England and Scotland. We hope you might join us. Please call about your
